27 people were diagnosed with pneumonia in Wuhan in Hubei province.
Wuhan health officials say most cases are workers at a local seafood market, with 7 patients in critical condition and 2 patients are expected to be discharged from the hospital in the coming days.
Health officials are still tracking down the source of the virus and the cause of the infection.
The preliminary investigationrevealed that the outbreak was caused by viral infection. Officials havent found any human-to-human infection and none of the medical staff was contracted the disease.
There were internet rumors that link the outbreak to SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome). Health officials say its still too early to conclude that the outbreak is caused by the SARS virus. If it truly is, theres mature treatment system in place, so people dont need to panic.
SARS is an acute respiratory illness which killed hundreds of people in China in the early 2000s.
