It seems like theme parks are popping up all over Shanghai these days. In addition to Shanghai Disney and the Toy Story, Peppa Pig, Smurfs and Naruto theme parks, Shanghai will soon be home to the world's largest Legoland, Shine reports.

The highly anticipated theme park will be located in Jinshan and is set to open in 2023. Legoland Shanghai will cost over RMB384 million (USD55 million) to build. The park will also feature a 250-room themed family-friendly resort.

In the future, we will have Disneyland in the east of Shanghai and the Legoland in the west, said Hu Weiguo, head of the Jinshan government. More tourists from the Yangtze River Delta region and beyond will come to Jinshan.

The Lego brand has had a presence in China for over 30 years. The company opened its Shanghai office in 2014 and unveiled China's first flagship store in Shanghai just a few years later.

By next year, Lego will have over 220 stores in China.
