Diptychs Christopher Le Brun Solo Exhibition

For his first solo exhibition in China, British artist Christopher Le Brun brings a group of diptychs, which dwell on the duality of things. The nature and colors of these diptychs collide in such a way as to propose contrast, comparison, collision and more.

Jean-Michel Othoniel and Pierre Soulages Concurrent Exhibitions

Described by former French president Francois Hollande as the greatest living artist in 2014, Pierre Soulages reputation precedes him. He brings a variety of paintings from different periods of his life, but, perhaps most inspiring are the pieces made in the past three years. Soulages turns 100 in December and his continued artistic output is astonishing. Elsewhere, Jean Michel Othoniels iridescent hanging sculptures, which take on the form of pieces of jewelry, will shock and delight.

James Turrell Solo Exhibition

Open Feast Eddie Martinez Solo Exhibition

Anarchic and full of artistic freedom, this exhibition by Brooklyn artist Eddie Martinez exhibits sketches and drawings by the artist, as well as a huge single wall mural. Focusing, as ever on physical forms and pop culture references, this exhibition is a puzzling delight for visitors.

Shanghai artist Zhang Ruyis exhibition dwells on ideas of location, of spatial awareness and our way of perceiving the world through physical objects. She plays with our expectations of what we might find in an aquarium, for example, beckoning the viewer towards pieces that aim to remould the eye into something less sensory and more thoughtful.

NOWNESS Experiments: The Mesh

K11 teams up with NOWNESS for a moving images exhibition, which combines a presentation of The Night Journey, a collaboration between video art pioneer Bill Viola and the USC Game Innovation Lab, two large scale multimedia installations by London-based collective Marshmallow Laser Feast, Alvin Lis moving image installation D.E.E.P. and, finally, public screenings of nominees for NOWNESS China New Talent Awards.

Li Qing takes the gorgeous Prada Rong Zhai and creates unique, sometimes stifling atmospheres throughout its old rooms. Playing around with ideas of old and new Shanghai, of obsession and more, Li places these idiosyncratic ideas within a space that is also imbued with the everyday, establishing a fantastic contrast.

Ocean II Ocean Cyprien Gaillard Solo Exhibition

French artist Cyprien Gaillards Venice Biennale showing, Ocean II Ocean, comes to TANK this week. Displayed against the transporting concave walls at TANK, surrounded by old, used and dirty bulldozer shovels, the space offers a collision of effects.

The Annual Report of OCD Zhang Peili Solo Exhibition

Zhang Peili breaks off bits off himself for this exhibition, quite literally. The artist recreates his own skeleton and lays it across a surface in pieces, he uses some of his urine in a painting and takes some of his own blood to be encased in a glass structure. That is to name but a few of the fascinating ways in which Zhang explores the idea of ones body. Taking place across multiple rooms on three floors, this exhibition is both thrilling and frighteningly existential.

Moon Rehearsals VERTEX af Solo Exhibition

VERTEX af, a duo made up of Ei Arakawa and Sarah Chow, are concerned with the intersection of magic and conceptuality in contemporary arts. They use such forms as astrology to tease out new systems and new knowledge. This is the pairs first solo exhibition in China.

Lu Yang and Chen Tianzhuo Concurrent Exhibitions

Two of the hottest young artists in China today come together for concurrent exhibitions at BANK Shanghai. Firstly, Lu Yang brings some of her multimedia works but also takes aim at canvas for some paintings. At the same time, Chen Tianzhuo uses mixed media oils and charcoal to present behind-the-scenes representations of his best known works.

365 Degrees The Immersive Experience Eugenio Recuenco

Spanish fashion photographer Eugenio Recuenco has recreated and constructed fascinating images and photographs in this, his 365 Degrees series, bringing together influences that stem from art to current affairs, history, politics and much more to create a humorous, cynical, optimistic view of the world. This exhibition is broken into three parts, the first is the exhibition proper, which shows 170 pieces of Recuencos work, while in the latter half, 12 of Recuencos photos are reproduced on site, allowing visitors to recreate Recuencos iconic photos, while finally, a video room shows the real-life influences for the photographs on show.

Bob Dylan Retrospectrum

Sure, Bob Dylan is a Nobel Prize winning writer, poet and lyricist, but his lesser known creative endeavors include painting with oil, acrylic and watercolor, and even include ironwork sculpture. Modern Art Museum, god bless their souls, have collected more than 250 of Dylans works spanning over 40 years to Shanghai this weekend. Dylans early ink experiments will show alongside the likes of works from Mondo Scripto sketches. Enjoy this fascinating insight into the creative polymath's works until January next year.
