On September 12th, a video about Jiangsu Traffic Police and their situation of trying to confirm the nationality of a foreign woman who had been found on the Beijing-Shanghai Expressway was widely covered on Chinese media.

At about 4:15PM, on September 9th, the Yangzhou traffic police of Jiangsu received a reported saying a foreigner was walking along the Beijing-Shanghai Expressway. Knowing this, they rushed to the location. Near the Jiangdu Brick Bridge Toll Station, they found a foreign woman who was in her twenties walking along the road, as cars sped by. Seeing this, Officer Zhuang approached her, however the foreigner was unable to speak Chinese or English. Thus, Zhuang took her back to the police station.

At the police station, Zhuang and his co-workers encountered a real hassle when trying to figure out her identity and cause for her actions. First, they tried to overcome the language barrier by using a translation app, but they had to give it up after trying six languages including English, French, Japanese and German and more. Then one of the officers brought up the idea of showing her pictures of flags from various countries.
