When talking about which of Chinas provinces is home to the bigger number of foodies, many will rush to nominate either Guangdong or Sichuan, where the air is spicy.
But unexpectedly, the number one province is actually Shandong!
According to a 2019 annual report on China's catering industry, national catering revenue reached RMB 4.2716 trillion in 2018.
And of this total revenue, Shandong residents ate a big chunk worth RMB 399.5 billion.
So now, this begs the question: Do you know what dishes Shandong province is most famous for?
Shandong cuisine is derived from the Qilu flavor, with a predominantly salty and fresh taste. Great for soups and cooking seafood.
