A very strange video footage captured from a surveillance camera has raised many eyebrows recently and has gone viral after being shared in different WeChat groups.
The footage shows three pedestrians walking on the side of a road when suddenly, in a matter of two seconds, one of them completely disappeared.
The incident took place after 1 A.M. on August 22 in the Qichun county of Hubei province.
As it turned out, a car was driving towards the group of three with its lights on and could not slow down on time.
It crashed into the man on the right and flew him several meters away.
In complete shock, the driver got out of the car and took the pedestrian to the hospital for emergency (the other two were not injured). The person who was hit by the car fractured his left leg and is still being treated.
The investigation led by police officers revealed that the driver holds the C1 license and that he was driving under normal conditions.
Although no one died from this incident, the video generated a lot of debates on Chinese social media over who is to blame for what happened.
Some argue that vehicles should not drive this fast in the middle of the night and always look out for potential pedestrians on the road. Others stress the importance of walking on the sidewalk for your own safety, and not on the road, especially late at night.
Other netizens feel that both sides are to blame.
