Recently, a video went viral of a foreign tourist from New Zealand visiting Xiangyang. The video shows a security guard uncle giving a tour of Xiangyang's attractions entirely in English, sparking widespread discussion among netizens.

In the video, the New Zealand tourist exchanged a few pleasantries in Chinese, and to his surprise, the security guard uncle responded in English. When the place the tourist wanted to visit was not open, the security guard promptly offered alternative suggestions and expertly directed the tourist to pose for commemorative photos. The tourist said that this was the first English-speaking person he had encountered during his travels in Wuhan and Xiangyang.

The protagonist of the video is Zhou Rongjie, a 51-year-old resident of Xiangyang. He told reporters that he had studied a bit of English in primary and middle school, but he had little exposure to it during technical school (as there were no English classes). In 2006, he started working as a security guard at Xiangyang No. 4 High School. The school's excellent learning environment rekindled his interest in studying English. "The school has foreign teachers, so I often greeted them. Over time, my English improved," Zhou Rongjie said with a smile.

In recent years, Zhou Rongjie started working as a security guard at Xiangyang. He frequently encounters foreign tourists asking for information and always takes the initiative to assist them. "I hope more tourists leave Xiangyang with wonderful and unforgettable memories," Zhou Rongjie said.
