Imported Cases Surpass Locally Contracted Cases, NHC Confirms

Since March 13, the number of imported COVID-19 cases has exceeded the number of locally transmitted cases, bringing the total to 913 coming from overseas.

Among those 913 cases, 216 have already recovered from the virus and have been discharged. No one has died as of yet.

The total number of confirmed cases in China is at 1,376, among which 697 cases have been confirmed coming from overseas (excluding those who have already recovered, as mentioned above) against 679 cases who have contracted the virus locally in China.

Spokesman of the National Health Commission, Mi Feng, said that the number of imported cases continues to rise, thereby posing a potential risk for sporadic outbreaks appearing in different regions of the country.

As such, it is imperative that communities, families and citizens continue to take precautions and maintain high levels of hygiene to avoid another wave of COVID-19 nationwide.
