China Bans Wildlife Trade and Consumption


On February 24, the Standing Committee of the National Peoples Congress (NPCSC) banned all trade on wild animals, according to state media. 


In the wake of the disease known as COVID-19, which has led to 2,666 deaths as of February 25, the government stressed the immediate ban on the trade and consumption of wild animals, including terrestrial animals that come from the wilderness and wild animals that are farmed by people.
