Quarantine Period Halved for Intl. Arrivals & Close Contacts!

Quarantine Period Halved for Intl. Arrivals & Close Contacts!

China has tweaked COVID-19 prevention playbook, here we list a few important updates!

Shortened collective quarantine time for international arrivals, and close contacts

Overseas travelers & Close contacts

From '14+7' to '7+3'

International arrivals and close contacts of confirm,ed COVID cases would receive 7-day centralized quarantine + 3-day self-health monitoring at home.

PCR tests will be carried out on the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, and 7th day in centralized quarantine and the 3rd day in self-health monitoring at home.

Secondary close contacts

7, but in a more comfortable environment

Secondary close contacts would not need the 7-day centralized quarantine any more. Instead, they can implement 7-day self-health management at their residency, and take PCR tests on the 1st, 4th and 7th day.

A unified standard of classifying high-risk and medium-risk areas

Remember how we hate different standards of risk areas, especially when adjusting travel plans?

This may not be a headache anymore as China is unifying the classification standard based on if new cases emerge in the past 7 days.

No new case in the past 7 days:

 decrease to medium-risk area

No new case in the past 3 days:

 decrease to low-risk area

Narrow the scope for regular PCR tests and lower frequency

Avoid one-size-fits-all? Targeted policies and prevention rules in different regions will be made after evaluating whether the transmission source and transmission chain are clear and where there's a high risk of community transmission.
