You Might Test Positive But Suishenban Wouldn't Tell You

You Might Test Positive But Suishenban Wouldn't Tell You

COVID Tests

This might be one of the most confusing inconsistencies: Some citizens have complaint that when they check their PCR test result on Suishenban, it was negative, however, later they received a call from the CDC noticing they were actually infected and needed to be quarantined.

So, which result is the real one? Should they trust their eyes or their ears? The authority has responded to the confusion yesterday:

All the PCR test results shown on Suishenban are uploaded by the testing institutions. After the testing insitutions upload information, citizens could check on the platform immediately.

However, Suishenban is just a reference. Whether the information is accurate and whether your result turns out 'abnormal' are subject to testing institutions and the CDC.

According to the law requirement, all positive test results would not be shown on Suishenban.

Over COVID tests, some residents also raised another question: their compounds have been locked down for almost a month and no one is allowed to get in, then what's the point of taking PCR/Antigen tests everyday or every second day?

The authority has made response to the question: taking the possible long incubation into consideration, frequent PCR/Antigen tests are necessary. Virus can grow and replicate inside human bodies. If the viral load in the early stage of infection is low, test result might turn out negative and the risk of community transmission would increase. Hereby, to achieve 'Dynamic 0', frequent screening is necessary.

Current Situation & New Campaign

Shanghai's infection cases have been dropping for four days in a row and more people are being discharged from designated or temporary hospitals.

The Shanghai Municipal Government announced late Thursday that the city will launch a thorough campaign to eliminate COVID-19 transmission in communities. It includes nine areas including community control, screening tests, traditional Chinese medicine intervention, and preventing spillovers.

Community control and management will be implemented strictly to minimize personnel flow. People in lockdown areas will continue to stay at home and have their living necessities delivered to the doors, while people in controlled areas will be asked to stay in the community.

Those who are required to quarantine at home will have sensors placed on their doors and the health codes will turn red.

PCR testing will be conducted once each day in locked-down compounds, while in controlled areas, a combination of three days of antigen tests and two days of PCR tests will be carried out. In prevention zones, residents will take antigen tests for four days and nucleic acid tests for one day.

Personnel who provide social services to the city, such as couriers, are required to take 1 PCR test and 2 antigen tests every day.

Meanwhile, other seven tasks involving epidemiological examinations, transfer and quarantine, TCM intervention, disinfection and prevention of spillover will be carried out.
