Source: OT-Team(S,J), China News, Beijing News

As of the morning of April 12, the first batch of "3-level epidemic control" lists for each district in Shanghai had included:

  • 11,135 Lockdown areas, involving 15.01 million residents;

  • 2,682 Controlled Areas, involving 1.78 million residents;

  • 10,323 Precautionary Areas, involving 4.8 million residents.

Subsequent "3-level epidemic control" lists will be released eventually.

Freedom for small part of the urban areas

Residents in the Precautionary Areas are allowed to walk out of the communities but they need to stay inside the administrative region where they belong to.

According to information released by Shanghai, although the number of communities involved in the Precautionary Areas is large, the population is relatively small.

90% of the communities are located in the suburbs, and only about 10% are in the urban areas. Of the 4.8 million people involved, 4.3 million are located in the suburbs, and a total of 500,000 are in the urban areas .

For people in the Precautionary Areas, antigen tests are still required twice a week; for policemen, couriers, urban service security personnel and other personnel on duty, antigen plus nucleic acid tests are required.

Since there is risk that, once any positive case is detected in Precautionary Area, it will be adjusted to a Lockdown Area and will be closed for 14 days. For the Precautionary Areas that are surrounded by Lockdown Areas and Controlled Areas, cluster is strictly forbidden, each district can still strengthen management according to the situation.

Personnel in the Precautionary Area are prohibited from entering the Lockdown Areas and Controlled Areas without authorization.

The Citywide Strict Control is Still Undergoing

On April 13, Shanghai announced that, motor vehicles are prohibited from driving on the road, except for the needs of epidemic prevention and control, living security, emergency, medical treatment, etc. Traffic control measures are dynamically adjusted according to the situation of epidemic prevention and control.

Quarantine Time in Makeshift Hospitals is Shortening

On April 13, Shanghai announced that the current epidemic prevention and control in Shanghai is in a critical period, and continuous nucleic acid and antigen screening is an important way to cut off the spread of the virus.

For asymptomatic cases and mild cases in makeshift hospitals, due to individual differences, immunity condition, and possible underlying diseases, there are differences in the duration of hospitalization/quarantine time.

At present, the average length of stay in makeshift hospital is gradually shortening to about a week.

On April 12, 39 infected children and their parents were discharged from the makeshift hospital of Shanghai New International Expo Center.
