2 medical staff tested positive, close contacts quarantined


The Guangzhou Municipal Health Commission announced on the 14th that, the Eighth Hospital Affiliated to Guangzhou Medical University reports two positive cases during the routine nucleic acid testing for medical staff on the June 11.

According to reports, the infected cases include a female pathologist and a male physician from emergency outpatient.

Those who have been in close contact with the 2 cases have been quarantined for medical observation, and the nucleic acid test results are all negative so far.

It is preliminarily inferred that the infection was likely to be caused by accidental exposure to the virus, and the specific cause is under further investigation.


Lockdown lifts in 11 areas in Guangzhou


On June 14, Guangzhou announced lifting the lockdown measures for 11 areas.


The assessments was made according to below requirements:


  1. There are no new cases after over three rounds of mass nucleic acid testing in 14 consecutive days in the closed area, and all people are tested negative 24 hours before lifting the lockdown.

  2. All close contacts have been put under effective medical observation.

  3. People with yellow health codes in the areas have taken the COVID-19 testing and results are all negative/

  4. Nucleic acid testing results of the samples taken from related environment are all negative.


After the lockdown is lifted, the areas should still continue to follow other prevention and control measures.





High school entrance exam postponed to July


Guangzhou municipal education department announced on Monday that, the local senior high school entrance examination, which was scheduled for June 20-22, would be postponed to July as for COVID-19.

More than 90,000 junior high school students will take part in the exam, according to local education department .The decision was made to protect the health of teachers and students from the risk of cross-infection.

The amended exam time would be confirmed later depending on the epidemic situation and the public would be informed in advance.


Wuchuan - 4 escaped from closed area by boat, 7-day detention


On the evening of June 12, the Wuchuan police received report from citizens that someone violated the relevant regulations on epidemic prevention & control and secretly left the closed area by boat.

The police took an immediate action and quickly verified the identities of the four people. Upon questioning, the four people confessed about the violation.

The four were sentenced to administrative detention for seven days in accordance with the law for failing to implement the decision issued by the Wuchuan Municipal People's Government in situation of emergency.
