Guangdong COVID Update - Dongguan Testing, Foshan Case & GZ Open

New updates have been released for the Guangdong COVID situation!



Dongguan: COVID testing carrying out for 5 communities


In order to further strengthen the epidemic prevention and control work, Dongguan has decided to carry out testing for all the permanent and temporary residents of 5 communities on June 18th and 19th. 


The areas cover Guancheng community, Dongcheng community, Wanjiang community, Nancheng community, and Mayong Town.



Foshan: 1 new local case reported on June 18


On June 18, 1 domestic confirmed case was reported in Foshan City.
The new case is Male, 83 years old, currently living in Guicheng community, Nanhai District. The community was listed as a control area on June 4th. During the period, residents in this community have accepted multiple times of nucleic acid testing, and the results were all negative. On June 17th, the man was transferred to centralized quarantine medical observation as a confirmed case was detected in same building. On June 18, he was tested positive and  transferred to a designated hospital for isolation and treatment.






Guangzhou: no new case reported on June 17, 9 infected cases released from hospital and medical isolation


On the morning of June 18, the Guangzhou Municipal Health Commission announced that, there were no new domestic case in Guangzhou on June 17. 


In addition, as assessed by experts, 6 confirmed cases were discharged from hospital on June 17, and 3 asymptomatic cases were released from medical isolation and observation. These 9 infected people will continue to undergo rehabilitation and isolation until they are confirmed to be safe.


As of 24:00 on June 17, a total of 15 confirmed cases had been discharged from the hospital in Guangzhou.




Re-opening for cultural venues and schools in Yuexiu district, Guangzhou


On June 18th, Yuexiu District of Guangzhou City announced the reopening of certain areas in Liurong Street and Guangta community .
 All kinds of public cultural venues (libraries, museums, cultural centers, art galleries, etc.), professional markets in the 2 areas will re-open, above mentioned places shall be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected to meet the epidemic prevention requirements. All staff should hold negative test reports within 48 hours before resuming work. The maximum visitor capacity would be limited to 50%.


All primary schools, secondary schools and kindergartens in the 2 areas will resume offline classes on June 21.
