0 New Cases Reported in Guangzhou! Lockdown Lifted! But....

No new cases, lockdown lifted in some areas! But 32 people were found to be infected on a flight!



No New Cases Reported!


On June 16, Guangzhou announced that, from 0:00 to 24:00 on June 15, there was no new local case in the city.

As of 24:00 on June 15, a total of 9 former confirmed COVID cases have been discharged from hospital.


Lockdown lifted in 6 more in Guangzhou


Further on the lockdown lift for 11 areas on June 14, Guangzhou announced lifting the lockdown measures for another 6 areas on June 16. Including 2 in Yuexiu District, 1 in Panyu district and 3 in Haizhu District.

Local health commission stated that, 0 new local case does not mean the risk disappears, basic measures of epidemic prevention and control will still be carried out, those from non-quarantine areas are not allowed to enter the lockdown areas within 7 days after the lifting.

32 tested positive on flight from South Africa to Shenzhen


On June 15, Shenzhen reported 13 imported confirmed cases and 12 imported asymptomatic cases. The above-mentioned passengers all entered Shenzhen from Johannesburg, South Africa by flight CA868 on June 10, and they were quarantined after entry. During the routine nucleic acid testing, 25 of them tested positive.

All 13 confirmed cases are of Chinese nationality, including 9 male and 4 female; among the 12 asymptomatic cases, 9 are Chinese nationals (7 male and 2 female), 2 are from South Africa (1 male and 1 female), and 1 from Zimbabwe (male).

Up to now, a total of 32 imported positive cases have been reported related this flight. In addition, a customs staff member of Shenzhen Airport, who was in charge of the investigation work for this flight, was also confirmed infected.



3-dose CHO vaccines have arrived in Guangdong, 600,000 doses in total


On June 15, Guangdong announced that the first batch of 600,000 recombinant subunit COVID vaccines (CHO cell) had arrived in Guangdong. The vaccine is jointly developed by the Institute of Microbiology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and a Bio-pharmaceutical company in Anhui Province. A total of 3 doses are required for each vaccination process.
