Experience the nature vibe in Chongming Island, Shanghai

If you are staying in Shanghai for Christmas Holidays, why not popping over to enjoy the natural beauty of Chongming Island? The third largest island in China, is the backyard of Shanghai.

Chongming Island is located in the east estuary of the Yangtze River, and has a levee shaded under trees, looking like a giant green dragon lying on the river.

Dongping National Forest Park

Dongping National Forest Park is the largest man-made forest in east China. Here you can find lakes, gardens, and can also enjoy many activities such as grass skiing, rock climbing, biking and so on. Besides, barbeque and camping base can be the perfect place for families and outdoor vacationers. Remember to bring your own snacks and water since there are not many food options.

Dongtan Wetland Park

Dongtan Wetland Park is located in the easternmost part of the island. Here, you can breathe fresh air, and view endless reed marshes. There are top 2 things you must not miss, one is the beautiful sunrise, and the other one is the birds' migration route in Asia-Pacific region that will pass though the Dongtan Park from November to March. Thousands of birds including wild geese and egrets can be seen during these months.

Xisha Wetland Park

Xisha Wetland Park is located in the southwest of the island. Lakes, mudflat, freshwater, reeds, and wetland animal species have combined to make some of the most spectacular scenery in China. It is also the best place on the island to enjoy the sunset.

Strawberries Farm

You can find several strawberries farms to enjoy the strawberries picking with your loved one. At its peak of juiciness and with intense flavor and fragrance, strawberries growing on Chongming Island are ripe for picking normally from December to April.
