Which Foreigners are Entering China? Visa & Requirements!

Source: OT-Team (AFJ)

On October 14, 2020, the 169th press conference on prevention and control of the epidemic of COVID-19 was held in Beijing. Ji Lixia, deputy chief of the General Station of Exit and Entry Frontier Inspection, said that since the resumption of direct international flights in Beijing on September 3rd, the number of inbound foreigners has nearly quadrupled, where the top four entry purposes are employment, meetings, visits and family visits.

In the press conference, the authorities also indicated information on the entry policy and international flights.

Entry Policy: Valid Residence Permits & Application

Ji Lixia stressed that as of now, foreigners holding valid residence permits for work, private affairs and reunion are allowed to enter China with no need to re-apply for a visa.

Besides, foreign nationals can apply for the charter flights and temporary flights via fast-track lane or diplomatic channels to return to China, given there is a temporary demand for the resumption of work, production or school resumption.

So far, 9 countries have opened fast-track lane with China, namely South Korea, Germany, Japan, Singapore, Britain, France, Italy, Switzerland and Indonesia.

Anti-Pandemic Measure: Three Nucleic Acid Tests

As per Tian Tao, deputy director of the Beijing Municipal Party Committee, all inbound travelers to China must conduct the nucleic acid tests of COVID-19 for three times, which are namely:

  • They need to hold a negative nucleic acid test certificate within 5 days before boarding;

  • They shall conduct the nucleic acid test by the customs after entry;

  • They shall carry out the detection before the end of the centralized observation.

It is worth noticing that all quarantine expenses shall be shouldered by the quarantined individual.

International Flights: Dynamic Adjusting

As for the implementation of international flights and future plans, the CAAC gave a clear response on Oct. 15, which is, currently there are 294 round-trip international flights per week between China and 55 countries.

Next, the CAAC will further adjust the scheduled flights according to the actual economic and social need as well as anti-pandemic policy.
